Where to watch the Spain vs France World Cup Semi-final match in Las Palmas

Francia vs. España: ¡Un partidazo!
France vs. Spain: A huge game!

The City Council, El Ayuntamiento, is installing a giant screen in Plaza del Pilar📍 so you can watch the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup for free.

A thousand people viewed Spain’s victory against Belgium on a large screen at Plaza Don Benito

Around a thousand people gathered the other night to watch Spain’s victory against Belgium in the World Cup Quarter Finals on a big screen setup at Plaza Don Benito 📍. We can expect bigger crowds and more excitement this coming Tuesday as Spain take on France in the Semi Finals.

Expect bars to have their large televisions playing all along the side of Parque Santa Catalina📍, many of the city’s cafés have screens and will likely have it on, and the capital’s plazas will be bustling with sports fans. Watch out for the casual observers walking by who pause for a moment to see what’s happening – and then get shouted at when they’re blocking the action!

Sports bars in Las Palmas

There are a number of dedicated sports bars in the city with multiple screens showing all the big games, expect Tuesday to be no exception, and try to arrive early to grab a table.

  • The Irish Anchor, Calle Sagasta 66 📍 (This was Paddy’s Anchor till recently)
  • The Captain 13 Bar, Calle Fernando Guanarteme 63 📍
  • Bar San Remo, Calle Secretario Artiles 42 📍
  • The Irish Rover, Calle Galileo 3 📍
  • Martini Club, Calle Portugal 58 📍
  • El Trastero Gastrobar, Plaza de España📍

Prefer café culture for watching the game?

There are so many great cafés in the city, these are a couple of my favourites that are open pretty late, have screens and will be showing the game:

  • Churrería Astrid, Calle Fernando Guanarteme 33 📍
  • La Madrileña Bar Churrería, Calle Ripoche 7 📍

July 14th is Bastille Day

The National Day of France, Fête nationale française.

If the French team loses they’ve still got something to celebrate…
